Conveyancers Encouraged to Be Cyber Safe
The legal profession has placed itself at the forefront of the UK's cyber security agenda, and today the Conveyancing Association have gone one step further with the launch of the Cyberfraud and Fraud Protocol, an innovative and ambitious plan to secure the industry from cyber threats.
By encouraging firms to reach the standard of 'Cyber Safe' and protecting the information, cash and assets a firm holds within its system, conveyancers can gain a competitive advantage and reassure their clients that they have a pragmatic, realistic approach to cyber security. The CA's scheme means firms have to adopt the Cyberfraud Protocol, as well as demonstrate that they have achieved the standard for Cyber Essentials.
As a leading certification bodies of the UK Government's Cyber Essentials Scheme, Xyone Cyber Security have welcomed the announcement and will provide support and guidance to all Conveyancing Firms on their own cyber security mitigation.
Xyone's Managing Director, Stephen Robinson, said: "We welcome this step today and will offer assistance to anyone in the legal sector who wish to take positive, proactive steps to make sure they are Cyber Safe."
"The Cyber Essentials Scheme provides the base framework for cyber hygiene, and it should be encouraged by more leading professional bodies. The Conveyancing Association have shown they are ahead of the curve, and are actively seeking to mitigate their members' risks."
The Cyber Essentials Scheme was launched in 2013, and you can get more information about the scheme here: https://www.xyonecybersecurity.co.uk/cyber-essentials
"The Conveyancing Association (CA), the leading trade body for the conveyancing industry, has today launched its Cyberfraud and Fraud Protocol which seeks to provide CA member firms with practical information on how criminals operate and the measures they, and their staff, can take to avoid being victims of fraud and cyber-crime."
